Connect the iPhone to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
Note: Ensure the most recent version of iTunes is installed. The software may be downloaded for free from the iTunes website (http://www.apple.com/itunes/).
Once the iPhone is connected, the iTunes application will open automatically.
The first time the iPhone is connected to iTunes, a set up screen is displayed. Click Continue.
Note: If this is not the first time connecting to iTunes, click the preferred setup option, then click Continue.
Click Get Started.
Tap the Name field and enter a name for the iPhone.
Scroll to Options and review the synchronization settings and make any preferred changes.
Note: iTunes will automatically create a backup. Once the initial backup is complete, unplug the iPhone from the computer.
Click each content tab along the top and set the desired sync settings, as well as the content to be synchronized.
Click Apply to begin synchronizing iTunes and the iPhone.
Note: During the synchronization process, iTunes may display alert messages if changes are detected. Read each alert message and click the desired option to skip or accept changes.
The iPhone is now connected to iTunes.
