Press and hold the Power/Lock key to power on.
Read or listen to the Talkback message, then tap Next.
Note: To enable Talkback, double tap the screen before tapping Next.
To enable other accessibility settings, tap Accessibility.
If prompted at some point to Allow Google to regularly check device activity, tap an option.
Tap to select a language, then tap Next.
To connect to a Wi-Fi network, tap an available network.
Note: To continue without connecting to a Wi-Fi network, tap SKIP, then tap SKIP ANYWAY.
Enter the Wi-Fi network password if required, and then tap CONNECT.
Note: The device may need to perform the Hands Free Activation, update the PRL and Firmware. If needed, tap OK for each prompt, then the device will power off and restart.
Google accounts can be transferred from another device during the initial setup.
To transfer content using your Google account, select Copy your Google accounts, apps, and data from your other device, tap NEXT and follow the on screen prompts.
To skip this step, tap No thanks, and then tap NEXT.
Note: If the device was reset with Device Protection enabled, entering the Google account credentials associated with this device will be required to continue.
A Google account is required to access a variety of Google services or to purchase and download content from the Play Store.
To create a new Google account, tap Or create a new account and follow the prompts.
To log in to an existing Google account, enter the email address, then tap NEXT.
Note: Adding a Google account automatically enables Device Protection, a feature that uses your Google account to prevent others from activating your device if it's lost or stolen.
Enter the account password, then tap NEXT.
Read the Google services message and tap to set the preferred options.
Scroll down and tap NEXT.
Tap the preferred option for Add another email, then tap NEXT.
To protect your phone's data, tap to check Protect this device, then tap NEXT.
To skip this step, tap to uncheck Protect this device, tap SKIP, then tap SKIP ANYWAY.
Tap a screen lock option.
Review the Secure start-up information, tap to select an option, then tap NEXT.
Enter the Pattern, PIN, or Password, then tap Next or CONTINUE.
Re-enter the Pattern, PIN or Password, then tap Next or OK.
Note: The steps will vary depending on the screen lock chosen.
Tap a Notifications option, then tap NEXT.
If available, tap the preferred backup from Restore from this backup, then tap DONE. Once finished, tap the Also include field to select the apps you would like to restore, then tap NEXT.
To setup your phone as a new device, ensure Set up as new device is selected, then tap NEXT.
Tap GOT IT.
The device is now set up and ready for use.
Note: If the carrier Default installation prompts, wait for the installation to finish, then tap OK. This may take several minutes.
