To view and enable the device accessibility options, tap Accessibility settings.
When finished, tap NEXT.
Ensure that the correct language option is selected, then tap NEXT.
To connect your device to a Wi-Fi network, ensure Use Wi-Fi is ON and tap your Wi-Fi network name. If needed, enter the Wi-Fi password, then tap CONNECT.
If a Wi-Fi connection is not available, or to skip this step, tap NEXT.
Note: If the device was reset with Device Protection enabled, a Wi-Fi connection will be required to continue and complete the Google account authentication.
The Hands Free Activation and a PRL update will begin automatically. Tap OK when prompted. The device will restart.
Once the device has restarted, tap NEXT.
To copy your current setup from an existing Android device, tap to select Copy your Google Accounts, apps, and data from your other device, tap NEXT, then follow the prompts.
To skip this step, tap to select No thanks and tap NEXT.
Note: If a reset was performed with Device Protection enabled, entering the Google account credentials will be required to continue.
A Google account is required to access a variety of Google services or to purchase and download content from the Play Store.
To create a new Google account, tap Or create a new account.
To log in to an existing Google account, enter the email address, then tap NEXT.
Note: Adding a Google account will automatically enable Device Protection. Device Protection uses your Google account to prevent others from activating your device if it's ever lost or stolen.
Enter your Password and tap NEXT.
Review the selected Google Services, then tap NEXT.
If available, tap the preferred backup from the list under Which device?, and follow the prompts.
To skip this step, tap Don't restore.
A screen lock works with your Google account to help protect your device and personal information.
To add a screen lock, tap NEXT.
Note: To continue without adding a screen lock, tap to uncheck Protect this device, then tap NEXT. Read the alert message, then tap SKIP ANYWAY.
Tap to select a screen lock type.
Note: The steps will vary depending on the selected screen lock type.
Tap to select a Lock screen notification option, then tap OK.
Review the EULA (End-User License Agreement).
To continue, tap to check I agree, then tap DONE.
The device will check for Firmware Updates.
If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to install the update. Otherwise, tap OK.
Note: If Set up from old device prompts, tap SET UP NOW, then tap the preferred option. To skip this, swipe the prompt to the side.
The device is now set up and ready for use.
Note: If a carrier Default installation prompt appears, wait for the installation to finish, then tap OK.
If prompted to Experience the UX 5.0 Home screen, read the message, tap NEXT, then tap DONE.
